Two From Men's Lacrosse Honored by Liberty League

TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes Owen Putman and Cooper Urban both had six points in the men's lacrosse team's season debut and both have been selected for weekly awards by the Liberty League for their efforts. Putman, a junior, has been named Offensive Performer of the Week, while Urban, a freshman, garnered Rookie of the Week following RPI's 15-6 victory over Keene State College on Saturday.

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2018 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

USciences Students Receive Their Pharmacy White Coats

More than 80 students in Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at University of the Sciences received their white coats at a ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018. The white coat ceremony is an annual rite of passage for students in their first professional year (third year) of USciences' six-year pharmacy program and symbolizes their dedication to the profession of pharmacy and to the care of others.

University of Scranton Undergraduate Commencement

The University of Scranton conferred more than 890 bachelor's and associate's degrees at its undergraduate commencement on May 27 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre. Very Reverend Timothy P. Kesicki, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, read the remarks of the principal speaker Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, who was unable to attend the ceremony in person because he is undergoing treatment for a form of acute leukemia. Both Father Kesicki and Bishop Murry, in absentia, received honorary degrees from the University. Honorary degrees were also presented to Sister Ann Walsh, I.H.M., former CEO and current assistant director of Friends of the Poor; William Whitaker, founding president of the Washington Jesuit Academy, Washington. D.C.; and Cecelia Lynett Haggerty, Times-Shamrock Communications and former University trustee.

University of Scranton students inducted into Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology. Qualifications for induction into the honor society include a major or minor in psychology, rank in the top 35 percent in general scholarship, and superior scholarship in psychology. The University's chapter of the honor society was established in 1969.
